Virginia W. Poese, 1919-2003, Concordia

Virginia W. Poese, 84, of Concordia, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at the Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg.

She was born March 27, 1919, in Knob Noster, a daughter of Oscar and Laura Martens Poese.

Miss Poese had been a housekeeper in Kansas City, but lived in Concordia most of her life. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and Ladies Aide No. 1, the Flower and Garden Club and the Concordia Historical Society.

Survivors include two sisters, Vera Miller, of Overland Park, Kan., and Clara Whitaker, of Paola, Kan.; two brothers, Harvey Poese and Ralph Poese, both of Concordia; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and two sisters.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Concordia, with Pastor Lee Hagan officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dave Whitsitt, Bruce Miller, Craig Poese, Jerry Poese and Raymond "Pete" Kuecker.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Lutheran Good Shepherd Nursing Home, in care of the Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Concordia.
